Lucerne tours at a glance
Most Lucerne tours fall into three groups: bus tours with a guide to a mountain, boat-and-railway combinations you do on your own, and short city walks. Lake Lucerne tours mix all of these, because the lake, the cogwheel railways and the cable cars are linked. If you want classic Lucerne sightseeing in town, our things to do page covers the old town, bridges and museums.
Operators run the boats, railways and cable cars, so their times and prices can change. Check the operator before you travel, and read the operating notes below for the situation in November 2026.

Our picks: guided and self-guided tours
The Pilatus half day, the Titlis half day, the Rigi day and the Stanserhorn tour bring a guide and transport in one booking. The Pilatus loop and the Bürgenstock boat and funicular day are self-guided and leave the pace to you. Several routes change in November, so read the season note on each card.
Hand-picked tours, booked through GetYourGuide. Prices are indicative starting prices in Swiss francs (as of October 2026). Tap a tour for live availability and the current price in your currency.

Titlis half-day tour by coach from Lucerne

Guided tour or self-guided ticket
Two ways to see the same mountain.
A guided tour takes care of the connections. The Pilatus half-day tour with a guide includes a bus from the Lucerne meeting point, the cogwheel railway and a professional guide. From 19.10. to 27.11.2026 it goes up and down by cogwheel railway, the boat part ended on 18.10.2026, and the lunch voucher comes only with the autumn option.
A ticket combination without a guide costs you more planning but leaves the day to you. The Pilatus ticket combination includes the public bus between Kriens and Lucerne, the gondola, the aerial cableway, the cogwheel railway and a lake ship, and it has no guide and no seat reservation for the cogwheel train. In November 2026 do not treat it as a complete round trip, because parts of the route are closed (see below). For help with the Pilatus side, see our Mount Pilatus tickets and tours.
Seasonal closures in November 2026
Operating status as of 1 November 2026, not a permanent rule.
Pilatus
The Kriens gondola and the aerial cableway are in revision from 19.10. to 27.11.2026. The cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad runs until 29.11.2026. The ship from Lucerne to Alpnachstad has been suspended since 19.10.2026.
Titlis
The Rotair gondola is closed from 17.08. to 11.12.2026 and replaced by another cable car, so a revolving gondola is not part of a visit now. The funicular between Engelberg and Gerschnialp is closed from 02.11. to 13.11.2026.
Stanserhorn
The 2026 season ends on 22.11.2026, and the Stanserhorn tour from Lucerne continues in the next season.
Rigi
Weggis to Kaltbad is in revision on weekdays from 16.11. to 27.11.2026, and Kräbel to Scheidegg on weekdays from 02.11. to 13.11.2026. Both are open at weekends. Details are on our Rigi page.
Tours by mountain
One short entry for each mountain.
Rigi
The Rigi day trip with a guide combines a boat, a cogwheel train ticket and an aerial cable car ticket and starts at landing stage 1. A Rigi day pass for adults costs 84 CHF, and the Swiss Travel Pass is valid. See Mount Rigi.
Titlis
The half-day Titlis tour by coach reaches the summit by cable car and includes the Ice Flyer chairlift, the Cliff Walk and the glacier cave, all weather permitting. Do not count on snow at any particular date. More in our day trips guide.
Stanserhorn
The tour with a local guide includes train, cable car and the Cabrio cable car with an open upper deck. A return ticket on your own costs 82 CHF in 2026, and a reservation of your departure time is offered but not required. See Lucerne mountains.
Bürgenstock
The boat from landing stage 3 to Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock and back plus the funicular is one ticket. The Hammetschwand lift, meals, the spa and golf or tennis are not included. More on Lucerne mountains.
Pilatus
The mountain lies right above the city. Our sister site has the details: Mount Pilatus guide.
Frequently asked questions
Which tours leave from Lucerne itself?
The Pilatus and Rigi tours, the Titlis half-day tour, the Stanserhorn tour and the Bürgenstock boat ticket all start in Lucerne. Meeting points differ, so check the voucher after booking.
Is a guide worth it?
A guide handles the connections and gives you background. A ticket without a guide is more flexible. Pick by how much you want to organise yourself.
Can I do a full Pilatus round trip in November 2026?
No full round trip is possible while the Kriens gondola is in revision and the ship to Alpnachstad is suspended. Check the operator for your date.
Are tours on this site run by the operators?
No. This site is an independent guide and does not run tours. Operators set the times and prices.
