Stanserhorn
Among the Lucerne mountains, the Stanserhorn has an unusual ride. From Stans it combines a historic funicular with a cable car that has an open upper deck. In 2026 the season runs from 11 April to 22 November. Fares read for 2026 are 41 CHF one way and 82 CHF return for adults, half that with the Half Fare card (20.50 and 41 CHF). You can reserve a departure time, but this is not compulsory.
A half-day guided tour of about 4 hours from Lucerne includes a local guide, the train, the cable car and the open-top cable car, with taxes and fees. It starts at the tourist information at Zentralstrasse 5. After 22 November 2026 the tour is only possible again in the next season. Operation and prices are set by the operator and can change.

Our picks: Pilatus, Stanserhorn and Bürgenstock
The Pilatus loop is self-guided but cannot run as a full loop in November 2026. The Stanserhorn tour brings a local guide and runs until 22 November, and the Bürgenstock day is a simple boat and funicular ticket.

A Stanserhorn half-day tour, a boat and funicular ticket for Bürgenstock and a Pilatus ticket combination, with live prices and availability.
Bürgenstock
Bürgenstock is a place above the lake that you reach by boat. Boats leave from pier 3 in Lucerne for Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock, and a funicular climbs from there. The cliff path, the Felsenweg, leads to the Hammetschwand lift. We give no price and no opening date for the lift, so ask the operator before you plan around it.
The boat and funicular ticket on this page covers the cruise from Lucerne to Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock and back and the ride up and down by funicular. The Hammetschwand lift, spa entry, golf and tennis fees and meals are not included, and the lift is an extra entrance fee. The boat fares and day passes are on our cruise page.
Mount Pilatus
The mountain above Lucerne has its own guide on our sister site: Golden Round Trip guide. Here are only the facts that matter for planning in November 2026. The railway to Kriens, with the gondola and the aerial cableway, is in its overhaul from 19 October to 27 November 2026. The cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad runs until 29 November 2026, and the regular boat from Lucerne to Alpnachstad has been suspended since 19 October 2026. For these reasons do not plan a full Golden Round Trip in November.
The operator's 2026 fare sheet lists 119.80 CHF in 2nd class for the Golden Round Trip, half price with the Half Fare card. The mountain railways Kriens to Pilatus and back are listed at 84 CHF, and the winter fare from December to April at 60 CHF. The ticket combination on this page includes the bus, the gondola, the aerial cableway, the cogwheel railway and the boat from Alpnachstad to Lucerne, without a guide and without a seat reservation. In November do not treat it as a complete round trip.
Cable cars around Lake Lucerne
Mountain lifts around the lake belong to different operators, and each has its own fares, seasons and overhaul dates. Check the notices before the day you travel.
Rigi
Rack railways run from Vitznau and Arth-Goldau, and cable cars from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad and from Kräbel to Rigi Scheidegg. In November 2026 the Weggis cable car is in overhaul on weekdays from 16 to 27 November. See Mount Rigi and Weggis and Vitznau.
Titlis
From Engelberg, the Rotair gondola is closed from 17 August to 11 December 2026, with Titlis Connect as the replacement. Details are on our day trips page.
Stanserhorn and Bürgenstock
Both start with a ride from the lake or from Stans, as described above.
